Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, Ilorin

The College

The college was established in September 1992 by the Kwara State Government with No. 5 of 2993. This followed persistent agitations by the Kwara State Muslim Community requesting the State Government to make provision for the graduates of private Arabic schools in the State to be integrated into the formal Western Education System.

The first taken by the State Government in this respect was the establishment of college of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Jebba. Ilorin. Babanna (now in Niger State) and Okene (now in Kogi State). Hence, the establishment of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) was to provide the aforementioned College and other similar institutions with a place to acquire Tertiary Education. Upon the appointment of the three Pioneer Principal Officers in October, 1992, the College (CAILS) commenced its operation at the premises of the Shariah Court of Appeal. Ilorin while in December, 1992 the College moved to its present site to start academic activities with seconded staff from the Ministry of Education and the Teaching Services Commission.
